Would it be worth $20 to upgrade the kershaw leek to a s30v blade?

I'm confused! Do you mean an "extra" $20 over the price of a standard leek, or can you buy a S30V blade alone? I would love to be able to buy some leek parts and build some franken leeks.

If you don't like the looks of the G10 leek, go with the D2, they make a great edc, and the composite blade has a sexy look.

I have gutted a dozen deer 1 year in camp with a zdp leek. Did 5 or 6 this year with the D2, it held up well.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention - composite blems can be had on this site for $38 shipped if they are still in stock....

You can send a leek in and they will install the s30v.

Unfortunately they are not allowed to ship just the "blades." (lame.)

My favorite of the three is CPM-D2. I love the balance of properties in that steel. Good durability, good edge retention, and not as hard to sharpen as CPM-S30V. CPM-D2 is only semi stainless, but given that the Leek uses the steel in a composite blade you don't have to worry about rust in the pivot.

not a kershaw x-pert here but i recently tested a leek on cutting double cardboard & the s30 cut past my spydie millie in s30. this was using similar length of cutting surface on blade & similar bevels. one kershaw knife is not a definitive result but certainly seems to show that the leek in s30 has a good heattreat.---dennis

I can't recall the member, but he has the most awesome Leek collection you could imagine. I saw them in a thread a year or two ago. That's one knife "model" that you could collect forever. I only have 2 since I like bigger folders, but the 2 I have are very cool, especially the Random leek revers tanto blade, with a dull gray 410 steel framelock handle and S30V blade. Love it!

Jump up three notches. Get a Shallot in S110V. This stuff is better than S30V, S60V, and S90V. Can't wait till they come out with an S125V Shallot.
