Would like info on the FB04 tang.

I must overwhelmingly deny that I was the one who got the handle off! I must bestow the honor of this feat to Jamie, or "blademan13" ... he can take the kiss, although I'll supply the dentyne ice for both parties! Jamie says that of all the handles he's encountered, this was by far the toughest one to get off...

Larry,

I have the handle all shaped and fitted to the sheath on the Perrin. Still waiting on the thongtube!!!! I expected it Friday, but nothing :-( It should definitely be here Monday in which case I will get the knife finished up. Due to the deep choil required by the knife/sheath design, the handle ended up being more of a cross between the Rinaldi pic you sent me and the Clark. I think it looks cool as hell (even unpolished) and the balance is just about right on the index finger. Even with the longer handle length, it still feels very light in the hand. Definite drool factor here I think, and those who favor the Perrin knife to begin with, should be jealous as hell. It actually turned out better than I thought it would. Definitely a one-of-a-kind!

I finally got the knife back, and it is awesome, to say the least... you Perrin fans will love it, and once I get my hands on a digicam this week, I'll be sure to post the pics of before and after... Jamie did an incredible job... the new micarta handle is fluid, solid, and light... it screams saber grip, but in a secure way! It complements the knife beautifully, and is much better than the stock handle IMHO... sort of a cross between Rinaldi and Clark handle designs. Let me know what you guys think once you see it!

Larry

pics will be posted by 10pm tonight! stay tuned! yup, I get off on teasing people... no, but really, I just borrowed my friend's camera, so I'll take some close-ups and post em when I get back from work this evening... this is already my EDC... IWB behind back diagonal strong side draw! teehee

pic6 last one!

Guys, let me know what you think of it... the pics are a bit rough, but in the hand the handle is very smooth, and professionally done. Jamie busted his ass on this one, do he'll probably curse me if anybody else requests such a job!

Very, very cool!!!!

On a side note, the actual line from Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels is "Guns for show, knives for a pro."

VERY nice!!!

Makes all the difference over the FRN/kraton

maybe Spyderco (Sal??) would consider a micarta version

would be beautiful

Very nice!!
I like the mod. It looks like a thicker hand filling type of grip now. Nice work. :)
How does it "handle" now?? Faster for you?? Just wondering.

Damn that is beautiful & I was going to ask you for Jamie's contact info so I could request the same for one of my Perrin's. I bet it would look just as good or better with a black blade too.

several people have requested Jamie's email (I believe his name here is blademan13, but I could be wrong... and I think he hangs at knifeforums much more than here), but b4 I post it, I'm gonna email him to see if he wants it here. As for the handling, yes, much faster, and more confident... fills my hand much better, but it's still very slim in profile.

Thanks for all the kind words regarding Larry's "baby". As I have said before, this knife was a challenge from the start. The tang, deep finger choil and fitting it to the sheath all contributed to the "sombitch" factor. Thanks for the challenge Larry, glad you found it met your needs.
