Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm look for some knife shopping advice.

I'm looking for a knife with a blade around 3 inches. A folder that I can open with one hand. I would also like it to cut/handle like a paring knife or an Opinel. So thinner (around 2mm like an Opinel) and not very wide (less then an inch wide like a paring knife or Opinel).

Any suggestions?

check out the kershaw leek. it might be too thick, but i hear it slices really well. also, the spyderco delica FFG is reputed to slice very, very well. for a slightly cheaper option, check out the kershaw skyline. it eats cardboard like nobody's business.

A price range would be pretty helpful becuase of the range of options from 10 bucks to thousands.

Chris Reeve Sebenza 21 Small
Buck Tom Mayo Waimea
Kershaw Ener-G
Spyderco Delica 4 Full Flat Grind

Off the top of my head... :D

Look around on some manufactures websites. Like Kershaw and Spyderco in this case. You will be surprised at the knives you didn't even realized you wanted. :) welcome to the club.

I would say either the spyderco delica 4 ffg, And the kershaw skyline . I have 40 knives and those are my best slicers by far.

Ok, so I'm going to look real hard at the Leek and the Skyline. I have a Delica with the standard blade. I do NOT like the way it slices. I'll look into the Full Flat Grind. I DO like everything else about the Delica. I'm wary of how much difference the FFG blade would make.

I'm also interested in the Spyderco Centofante 3. Looks pretty close in dimensions to my Opinel no 8. If it slices like the Opinel but could open easy with one hand, I'd be sold.

benchmade nagara $70-80;new release boker drop pt.titanium~$40.00 it's awesome;

+1 On both the CRK Small Sebenza and the Centofante 3 (personal experience). Both wiced slicers, one high end the other more affordable, lighter, weaker but they both get the job done.

I like the other suggestions but never owned them.

Welcome to the forums. I second the Leek and Skyline, and I'll add the Kershaw Chill. Pretty much any Kershaw knife is a good way to go. The Delica (Or Endura) in a Full Flat Grind is also going to slice through pretty much anything with relative ease. A FFG is going to help with slicing a lot. However, if you already have a Delica, I wouldn't get another. There are too many awesome knives out there to have duplicates.
As TheGeek574 said, a price range would be helpful, as well as what you are using it for exactly.

+3? on the Centofante 3 (Spyderco)...ought to do what you describe well enough.

As far as price, I don't want it to matter too much. I'd rather find a knife I like rather then save a few bucks. That said, I can't imagine I'd need to spend more then $150 to get something I'll like with all the options there are out there.

My uses are light duty. But lots of food on the go. That's why I want it to handle like a paring knife.

I also just saw the Spyderco Stretch. A little thicker (3mm vs 2mm) then the Centofante, but full flat grind?
