Hi! I would first like to introduce myself, I have been viewing the boards for almost a year now while serving overseas. My name is Bryan and I live in Baton Rouge, LA. I am currently home and looking to start making knives. I wonder if anybody lives in the South LA area that would be willing to let me see there shop and possibly see some hands on tutoring of a knife being made. Budget is low, morale is high! I think that I can do a lot with that. I look forward to hearing from you all. THanks for all the good posts that I have read on this forum.

Welcome Home!!! I do not know anyone in LA. I would recommend getting your hands on a Knives Annual. They have a listing in the back by state. If you were on the west coast i could help you out. Too bad you missed Charlie Ox in Iraq. He went over and gave several classes through MWR. It was a big hit. Keep looking on the forums and give it a try on your own if nothing else. A good book to start out with is Wayne Goddards $50 Knife Shop. Good Luck and Thank you for serving....

CHuck,
Thanks for the reply. I will pick up that book. I look forward to being a contributing part on this forum in the next few months. A lot of good advice out here.

Bryan.

Once you get done with that book drop me an email at chuck@woodchuckforge.com and we can do some long distance tutoring. Wayne's book will give you a great start and enable you to ask the questions without having to guess at them. Take care
