Any suggestions on how to strip the paint and make it look like a semi-pro job without using any special tools like a sand blaster?

Thanks!

Somewhere on the forum, there's an older thread (and YouTube video) from somebody who did this very simply with a Dremel, felt wheel and some green compound. The compound is aggressive enough to strip the coating, and at the same time, fine enough to polish the steel underneath. I'll see if I can find that link, and post it here if I do.

I'm sure it could also be done with some very fine grit wet/dry sandpaper. Depending on what finish you want, choose the grit accordingly. Something like 400 - 800 grit for satin finish, or 1000 - 2000+ for a more polished finish. Could take it further with some Flitz or Simichrome polishing paste, too.

If power tools aren't available, steel wool works well. I stripped/polished mine while watching tv in about an hour. It leaves the spyderco logo lines black as well if that's something that you care about (as opposed to a stripper).

Another option is to strip it with a paint stripper and not polish it. I decided not to polish mine when I saw the nice finish underneath.
