Hey all!
I've recently bought a tumbler and have been spending some time experimenting with stonewash finishes. I'm trying to find a finish that says "I'm a working knife, use me!", as well as looking good and wearing well.

I wanted to get some feedback from you guys in terms of which finishes you like, also please let me know if you don't like any of them! You can click on the images to enlarge them:

#1 - Tumble with coarse ceramic media in vinegar:

#2 - Tumble with fine ceramic media, etch in Ferric Chloride, then tumble again briefly:

#3 - Tumble with fine ceramic media in vinegar:

#4 - Tumble with fine ceramic media, etch in Ferric Chloride, then roll in bucket with coarse media:

Any and all feedback appreciated!

#2 is my fav. #3 is growing on me. #4 looks like it needs more 'rolling'.

BTW, like your work.

Thanks Travis, I appreciate you taking the time to help out! It's sometimes hard making decisions on these things without feedback!

I think the big appeal is the drastic change from muddled grey to a sharper silver finish. At least that's how I look at it so I'd have to go with #2 as well.

Thanks very much for taking the time guys, it's appreciated!

Do you think if #1 or #3 were darker that would change your preference?

Also if you had the choice between a satin finish and say the #2 stonewash finish, which would you take?

#2 looks best then #4

Ditto.

Here's one of many I've done. This is one of my personal knives. I put my logo in it too which another custom feature you can add.

I acid etched the blade first in PCB solution for about 30 minutes, then tumbled in large ceramic media for 30 minutes.
