Would Militec work on pivot?

So, using Miltec on your Sebbie is as bad for it as using it as a prybar? :rolleyes:

Come to think of it, isn't there a warning on Miltec that says it will disolve pb washers on a Sebbie? ;)

All I know is that I use Militec-1 on everything I have that needs lubeing and it works on it all better than anything else I have used.

Is that what I said? :rolleyes:

Funny how words and meanings get turned around. :barf:

Gig,

The question is if Miltec could be used on liew of CR grease. And the answer is yes. Not whether it's a matter of personal preference or not.

Some people prefer to use knives as prybars. But I wouldn't recommend it! :D

Come on, give it to me............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

You implied it with the above juxtoposition. And you invited comment with the last line, perhaps knowing that you were being over the top. ;) And when you say, "Come on, give it to me . . . . . . . . . !!!!!!!!," I expected you to be a little thicker skinned about the whole matter.

Or maybe I infer what you never meant to imply. :footinmou

Keith, maybe you have misunderstood....look at the first word in his post;

Gig....as in GigOne

AHHHHH -- I see. I retract everything. Far be it from me to attempt to stand in for . . . . . . GIG.

:footinmou

Thanks Shadow. Gig and I have been here a long time, he knows I'm playing. Just having fun. Heck, with Sebenza's, who wouldn't?

Keith, thanks for the poke. Have a beer and call it a day!
:cool:

Militec= p00p,

just my opinion!

now I stole this blatently from elsewhere on this forum.

Militec-1 works JUST FINE for lubing the pivot on a Sebbie.
I'm sure Chris recommends his flourinated grease because he knows it works well and of course he sells it, so why would he recommend anything else? But did he ever say that nothing else will work?
His flourinated grease is, per his website:
"Specially formulated for use on all high friction areas of precision folding knives and guns..."
I guess it's not JUST for knives, is it? Just like Militec-1 is not JUST for guns.
I've found Militec-1 to make the action of the knife very smooth. And that's without any heating. Heating helps the lube to penetrate the "pores" of the metal so that even if the oil is wiped off, it will continue to lubricate. Not really an issue in this application anyway.

Thanks for the input, Harrydog. :D

My experience with the oil was a little messy until I used the hair dryer :o , but the Militec grease works just as good, if not better.

I just broke down my 2 month old large Classic and used Miltec. Didn't use heat, just a little smear on the washers. End result is that it's much smoother than how it came from the factory. I'm sure that it helped just taking it apart and cleaning out the pocket fuzz but it sure feels much better than ever before!.

Earlier this week I thought I had lost my small Sebenza. I couldn't find it anywhere for several days. Then, my wife found it - inside the washing machine. I had forgotten to unclip it from my pants when I threw them into the dirty laundry and the Sebbie went through the wash cycle, hot water, detergent, and all.
Amazingly, the pivot action was still just as smooth as before. Apparently the lube was still in place and doing it's job. What does this prove? Maybe nothing. Just thought I'd pass it along though. ;)

Man. . . .I don't know how I missed this thread (after my last post). :D I'm not used to having my name thrown around. . . and not knowing. :p :D And it was even painless. :D

Got that right ! :D

OK. . . .who's going to send blackend a free bottle of Miltec ? :p :D

Not to beat a dead horse but I use it and like it very well. Best I have found so far. Only thing I wanted to add is I rarely have the time to take mine apart and clean and lube properly so I put a drop or two on the pivot then hit it with the air compressor at about 100 lbs pressure. Seems to force the lube in a little farther and works great. ;)
