Saw this today at home depot and I immediately went "hmmmmm"

Had older version when i was a kid.It made excelent tomahawk sub. Throws well with 14 16 in handle.
 
If you have and angle grinder you could probably remove some material and make a bit of a beard, and it still has a very functional hammer head. I would go with the longer handle for sure.
