Reports like this are what has kept me from buying a bark river. Plus I prefer more modern looking knives.
I gifted my bark river to my friends wife who didn't care about it. The scales on my condors had better fit.

You're being way to critical....a finger nail catches the scale, oh my....stop being such a Polly Anna and use the knife for goodness sakes
Would it bother me? No, probably not, but I'm actually pretty unpicky about stuff like that. The important thing is if it bothers you. It sounds like it does, at least a little, so I recommend at least contacting the dealer and manufacturer to see what can be done.
Im a little confused as to why this post exists, if it sat in a box for a year and you didnt even open it and look at it, clearly you dont care about it...
i guess it was last year i bought a bushcraft knife from a manufacturer that sells a lot on both dlt and ksf...for now they will remain nameless.
Life being what it is for me (in other words busy) i am just now getting around to checking this knife out and noticed that the scales are not entirely flush with the tang. Its not much, but enough that it would catch your fingernail when you drag it across it.
Not a cheap knife either...it came in just over $200.00...
If I were a knife maker or a vendor and someone waited a full year to complain about a fit n finish issue...yeah, I'm not accepting it back, and I hope they would send a link to the hate thread so I could slam them publicly. If I spent $200 on a knife, and at that price it probably retails at around $325 or a bit more, I would send it back to the company if it were not perfect. When a company prices their knives that high they are in effect saying that their knives are better than the rest of the competition and going head to head with other companies to prove it. Send it back.
i know..but i only discovered that after using knives where the tang and scales were fit so well they were almost one piece.

I did not quote you. The person I quoted said he would return it. That is who my comment was directed towards.nice...takes all kinds I guess. were i to ever see any company slam a customer for bringing up a fit and finish issue on any item regardless of when it was bought I would never do business with that company and would urge others to do the same.
In any case does it really matter WHEN I bought the knife for me to mention something about fit and finish ? Going back to my original OP, do you see ANYWHERE that I mentioned contacting the company or vendor about this ? I was not even going to name them until I was urged by others to do so.
No doubt I would lose business, which is why I'll never be in a customer service position.I could totally understand them not wanting to mess with it after a year, but if they publically slammed someone just for asking they would immediately and completely lose my business.

Not saying this is one of them, but I have seen some pretty unreasonable threads started by members against makers and buyers, and I was glad to see them show up and vigorously defend themselves.
In all likelihood, you have a knife with wooden scales and they naturally shrink and expand with the weather.
Here is an article we did on this about how wood knife handles shrink.
If it bothers you, you can send it back to LT and he will have everything flushed back up for you. Be aware, it will likely continue to expand and contract.
I doubt a reseller would be able to take the knife back after a year. After that long, it is clearly an issue to take up with LT.
