Would this bug you???

Thanks everyone for the replies. I’ve straightened many blades in my shop during the second temper cycle. However, I get nervous when trying to straighten factory blades. I’ll give the hammer and flat metal surface technique a try. I will post the results (Good or Bad) later today or tomorrow.

I once tried straightening a bent Case Sodbuster blade by using a ball pein hammer on the concave side...but didn't have much luck. May you have better luck.

It looks like I got most of the bend out of the tip. I was waiting for the tip to pop off while hammering on it.

Yep it would bother me. Worst fix I ever agreed to do was on a customer's 18something or other cavalry saber it had a pretty pronounced bend about 4 inches from the tip. I took a torch heated it to red and VERY gingerly straightened it in a vice. Then I polished off the black. It probably ruined the heat treatment in that spot but he wasn't going to be cutting with that sword anyway especially when the heat treatment was already pretty questionable. In retrospect I should never have agreed to do it. If I had snapped the tip off there would be no way to replace that sword. Gives me the heebie jeebies thinking about it still!

Good job. Give it just a little more. Or not, if it works.

I have a stiletto that got bent badly. It looked just like your results after a bit of hammer and I was happy enough with it to call it good.
