Would this micarta-like material be of any interest for scale material?

Stacking up washers made of material was a neat way of getting a stacked leather look without having to deal with compressing and sealing leather.

That was a good idea. Sounds like a neat effect indeed. Good use of the product.

Maybe a good use for the OP’s scraps.

Did you check the bottom of the bench for logos or manufacturer info?

This was stuff that came out of The Black Hole, a shop that used to be in Los Alamos NM. They bought all kinds of surplus from LANL and resold it. No identifying marks or labels engraved in or stuck to the material, I think it had all been reduced to components when it was purchased. I like the stacked handle idea... I'd been thinking of rehandling the CS Trailmaster I bought in the early 80's with stacked leather but this might be better. I will post pics if I get around to the project and it turns out OK.
