Trevor51, Right off we notice the motor does not have a 56C frame so it cannot be face mounted to a direct grind grinder. Next because of its RPM it is probably a two pole motor and lastly most knife makers chose a 1 1/2, 2, or 3 hp motor for their 2x72 belt grinders and this one is 5 hp. It is 3 phase however and could be used with a VFD . I'm no expert on this but there are many motors for sale at good prices so I would look for a deal on a 3 phase 2 hp motor with 1750 RPM and a 56c frame and the letters TEFC which stands for Totally enclosed fan cooled. You need this because of all the dust in your shop that could cause early failure of a motor without this feature. I hope this helps a little. Larry
