Would this work to hold down my stuff to drill?

That would work just fine. Just beware if its not tight enough it can still spin around and whip the shit out of you. But I'd use it, and I don't use anything to clamp my pieces down.

I believe those are for clamping down your vise. Anyway, they get decent reviews on Amazon for that application. Probably made in the same factory.

Those are made for clamping stuff down, so, providing you have room on your table, they will work.

I suppose they could hold a vise, but that would not be their primary mission.

You can get a cheap drill press vise for 15 bucks or so at harborfreight too, which works quite well.

The chain store Menards has an under $15 drill press vice. I just purchased one so I can't say how they hold up.

That is a drill press clamp, and its whole purpose is to clam stuff to the table for drilling.

The bolt goes through the table slots/holes and the ring nut is turned tight from below. Putting a piece of scrap wood down on the table and clamping the metal to it when drilling is the norm.

I have one and use it on the drill press table. Its not great but works, you just need to be careful with getting the right amount of tension. If you go too tight it will spring back up, if too loose well, you know.

Although they're a little more $ these stepped block clamps work the best and they can clamp down almost any shape securely it's what I always used in the shop at work and at home.

I like these, they are fast simple and cheap.

Even if you don't always hold down the work, having it on the table will stop the spin.

I've looked for the "real" vise grip brand, but never found it.

I have one of these but I found it faster to just use a small C clamp and rest the work against it to keep it from spinning. I now have it screwed into a piece of 1x2 and use it to clamp down my knives while hand sanding. Works great.

What about a drill press vise. Simple clamping to drill press table with t nuts on the underside of the table.
