Would welcome ideas on how to get my Buck 119 back

If your mother is in a fragile state, don't go and make it worse.
Leave it be.
There are other knives.....oh my are there other knives.
Treasure your mom while you have her.
And buy yourself a new knife.

Hey no worries, I'm not gonna lie or steal, I'm just thinking of a way to bring up the topic without risking her going into her whole 'dark-mode'. I posted here cuz who knows, more heads are better than one (usually at least).

It's precisely becuz I'm an adult that's why I'm concerned about her well-being. (It's hard to appreciate the situation but that's how my Mum is) As I said, if I don't come up with a good idea, I'll just go buy some new knives. It's not a must to have back; just a nice end to the story.

You are 27 and a Adult. Ask for it back as it has sentimental value and offer the money she gave you for it back.

As for your worry over your mother's mental status, hopefully she is seeing someone for it.

I bet she is attached to it, and is secretly a knife knut:D When you're not around she takes it out and uses/admires it, if only you knew of the awsome collection she has kept hidden from you all these years.

Dang if that was true, then I'd inherit a whole lot of cool knives :D

if you really want to be creative, you can make up
a story about how much you loved the knife when
you were a kid, and how you've been scouring the
internet searching for a replacement.

..... Two wrongs make a right. Right?

No, they don't but three lefts do

Dude your 27 tell her ya saw it and ask for it back, tell what it means to you and offer to buy it back, if she won't take money at least give her a penny for it, for the sake of tradition.

BTW welcome to the forums.

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome and suggestions. Sorry if some of you feel this thread is wasting space.

I guess I'll give up asking directly (or any other way) for the time being as recently she's been in a bad mood and some major incident has happened at her workplace.

I'm going ahead to buy a new knife (prob a Benchmade 556 mini-grip) and maybe when she sees me playing with/displaying a new knife, she might realise that I'm old enough to own a knife (duh) and return the Buck to me without me asking for it.

Let's just hope there won't be a "Help me think of how to get my 556 back" thread from me soon... hahaha.... :D

Hope you take this constructively .... at your age, why are you even asking? You're a man, guys who are years younger than you take up arms and go to war, and you're wondering what to do here?

IMO you don't need your mother's permission. Get your knife from the cupboard then tell her that you took it back. Tell her you appreciate her looking out for you when you were a kid. Give her a hug, tell her you love her, then take her out to a nice dinner or something. If she's like most mothers she'll see that you're the man she wanted you to grow up to be, and be proud.

It's not really like I'm totally lost and had to ask for advice here; I just wanted to hear some interesting ideas and kinda ease my way into the forums by playing a little bit of a clown :D

Not that I don't really appreciate the input that was given! Thanks guys!! I'll pass on it for now but might eventually get it back somehow or another. I won't snatch it away cuz she legally owns it (she bought it from me) and she's not in a totally healthy mental state, so I won't push.

As I said, it'd be nice to have an extra knife to start the collection, and it does have nostalgic value, but I'm not crying over it nor spending sleepless nights scheming against my Mum. Hahah :D

Cheerios!
