Would you be disappointed if Spyderco....

I would definitely be disappointed. Love my sabre grind endura's and delica's.

I would be disappointed. I almost always prefer FFG, but have been enjoying the hollow grind of the Gayle Bradly. Makes for a very thin edge with a fairly robust tip and spine. I also like the saber grind of my SE Dragonfly, as it makes that tiny blade tough. I think type of grind should be handled on a knife to knife basis, not just on a brand name.

I like the FFG, so I probably wouldn't take issue. But I don't see why Spyderco would limit themselves and alienate everyone who has a different opinion. Variety is the spice of life!

I like both. I am beating my Manix 2 to death, that thing is so tough. If it was a FFG, I wouldn't use it for half of the things I do now. It is the knife that is with me when I am working on my tractor (it is old, I spend more time working on it than using it...) Cutting air hoses, whittling kindling, scraping corrosion off of spark plugs - it is really a good tough blade that isn't so expensive that I am afraid to use it for those tasks.

If I am doing more delicate work, I would use my Para 2, that FFG on that blade just eats through stuff, but I wouldn't want to beat on it like I am willing to beat on the Manix 2.

Blade grinds and blade shapes are designed to perform with the basic end use in mind. Therefore one grind or blade shape may excel for one use and a totally different grind and shape may be just the ticket for another task. After reading this you have the perfect excuse to buy you're next knife.:):)

To answer the question: Yes, I would be disappointed. Though I do like FFG blades for food prep, carving and other more utility tasks need a stronger spine. Well I feel more comfortable with having a stronger spine for heavier use.

I hope they don't produce FFG exclusively. I love FFG don't get me wrong but I also like Hollow ground blades. What makes me sad is the lack of CE knives and Spyder edge offerings as of late. I understand you have to follow the market, but for me I always liked CE regardless of what other people thought.

While I would still follow Spyderco 100% I would be sad to see them only crank out one style of grind, and I don't think they would make just FFG only. They have so many great offerings they would only be limiting themselves by doing a FFG move.

just my .02
