Would you buy a Sebenza w/o a bday card?

Relatively simple question. I came across one for sale and have never owned a CR knife before. It was listed on a popular auction website and had many pics of the knife itself but not the card. I asked the seller if they had it and they said they don't. I would think if someone spent that kind of money on a knife they would keep it.

Thoughts?

I would. As long as I know it's not a fake, I'm not a collector so the birthday card wouldn't matter to me.

I'm no expert but it definitely looks like one. Then again, a good fake would right? Hmm...

If I'm spending $400+ on a knife i would want everything that goes with it.

I wouldn't buy a used CRK, period. It's a shame, but the proliferation of counterfeits has made it too risky.

I would be reluctant, as the majority of Sebenza owners (and Hinderer owners) realize the papers, box, etc. are important for resale, and to establish authenticity.

Now, someone new to knives might not realize that and throw everything away, but then you ask yourself, would someone new to knives buy a Sebenza? My suspicion antenna would definitely be up, way up.

Many genuine CRKs are sold on this forum. If someone tries to sell a fake on this forum, members will be all over it. So I thnk you can buy a used Sebenza on Bladeforum with some confidence, but I would still want the birth certificate (or the price should reflect a lack of one).

This is also my concern. If it was only cheaper by $50 to $100. I would just buy new.

Absolutely.... Those are items you don't just chuck out when you get your CRK.

I would have to know the owner.... otherwise, negatory.

I would then immediately have a birth card reissued and purchase a box and blue towel for it.

I have purchased/traded for quite a few CRK products and out of them all they always had the birthday card. I don't buy/trade for them otherwise. I've had to replace lanyards/stickers/cleaning cloths and boxes...but NEVER a birthday card. Screams fake to me. (I prefer to receive everything that the knife left CRK with...but if I have a replace a few insignificant incidentals I'm ok with it...)

I normally wouldn't buy one from an auction site, especially if it was missing the box, bd card.

Yeah, all depends. On an auction site I wouldn't bother. On here from an established member... with a discounted price... I probably would.

No.

When I bought my sebenza the first thing I decided is I wanted it to be as good as possible, given the money I was spending. I waited a long time until I got to a dealer to not only buy it new but to be able to inspect it before purchase.

If you are ever going across country on I-70 stop in at this forum's supporter in Troy IL, GPKnives. They have a great selection, nice people and internet prices for knives you can hold in your hand.

It wouldn't matter to me. As long as it was a real Sebbie. Paperwork is easily faked.

I would never buy a CRK off of the auction site period. It's even worse with no paperwork! I would buy one without as long as I could handle it first.
