Would you buy a spyderco machete?

I think I would. I use my kabar cutless machete quite a bit around the yard. It was pretty cheap $40 range, I would easily pay more for a spydie machete just because it gets used so much for yardwork. I live in the country, there is always something that calls for a machete or similar big blade. Something in the $125.00 range would be cool with my wallet. I am not sure what kind of steel would be best, maybe someone else can chime in on that.

I don't think I would buy a machete. That's because I live in the suburbs and don't go camping. Still, I understand why you and others invest in machetes.

As for steel, I think H1 would be awesome due to its corrosion resistance. Have you checked out the Rock Salt? It's light and is not a great chopper but many have found it to be great for camp duties and brush clearing. It also falls in your price range. Knifeworks and Cutleryshoppe have it on back order so you may want to contact them via email or phone.

If this were to ever happen - say a sprint run of 250. I would choose a masterful steel that would be awesome, such as 1095 with an awesome heat treat that Spyderco does well.

Yes I would buy one. They are great to use around the camp and in field. I like the shorter ones, around a 16" blade. The other thing that would be nice is if the blades were a little thicker, around 1/8".

I have a number of Spydies, but all are pocket knives.
I personally prefer my big blades without holes in them.

If they could make a better one than Condor for about the same amount of money, I'd consider it. I doubt it's going to happen.

I don't think I'd want a spyderco machete, but if Ed Schempp designed a chopper along some other lines--golok, barong, cane knife,.... I would.
