Would you buy a spyderco machete?

Condor already makes their machetes with holes in the blades. They represent the eye of the Condor and are for good luck.

I'm sure a few of you would buy anything Spyderco makes, even if it were toilet paper, but if they tried to compete in the world of machetes, they will lose their shirts.

Unless they do the same thing ESEE has done, and contract with an already established machete manufacturer to make machete blades for them.

I'm not certain H1 would be in my top 3 steels for that project. I would choose 3V, A2, then any of the following next: 52100, 5160, or 1095.

If Spyderco made toothpaste, I'd buy it :D

That's priceless!!

i would and sort of have. the hossom forrester is almost machete size

Pretty close i don't think there is a whole lot this one could not handle

Nope, my mouse cursor is hovering over the "Buy now" button after throwing in my shopping cart a few of Spyderco's slipjoint offerings, and in particular that odd fella with the magnet in it the T-Mag.

Uh, no. The Largest Spyderco I'd be willing to buy in a fixed blade would be the Temperance 2.

Also. I know how I treat my Machetes Even a value priced Spydie would be too much... Unless they could get it down to about the $20 range.

Machetes are very powerful cutting tools and can be devastating weapons.

One winter I had some questions and ideas about machetes that I just had to try. So I built about 6-7 machetes. I used 15N-20 bandsaw steel, which is very close to 1075 plus nickel. The 15n-20 can be run a little harder than 1075 because of the nickel. This material is about .090 or 2.25 mm thick. I like about a 12-12.5 inch blade.

This was a great learning experience. I moved the weight in and out on the blade and experimented with different geometries for effectiveness of cutting and the ability to hold the edge.

I ended up with a fairly standard looking machete with an ergonomic grip and a hamaguri or appleseed grind with no bevels/

You can buy a good machete for 10-15 dollars with a crappy grip and handle. It is worth the time and the $10 to modify the grip. Drop the back of the handle 5/8 of an inch and deepen the index finger groove, then feather your modifications to suit your grip.

Then go find a place to cut some stuff...Take care...Ed

The hole would be nice, but what about serrations? Thats what I want.

A SpyderEdge machete? That would be pure, almost useless win:thumbup: Like one of those things that you'll never use, but it makes up for it in sheer awesomeness.
