would you lend your knife in a survival situation?

No, I wouldn't ever borrow someone else's knife. I'd be in no position to.

If I was ever in a position to cut something and my Sebenza wasn't in my pocket, I'd pitch forward head first in deep shock, with my eyes rolled upwards in the sockets, gasping, hands wringing...

Wow!

I find it difficult to imagine myself being in a situation without a knife, but if I were and I knew that I knew more about knives than the guy who had the knife, I would ask him for it and not be pissed if he said no, as it would be my own fault.

With my luck I would be stuck somewhere with one of those pc-goobers that always ask "what are you going to do with that?"

sure i do! i actually have 8 knives, but i still wouldnt lend them out because there expensive. this one knife i have is about $200 canadian. i have another one where the handle is pure bronze and its about another $100. then i have a multi-tool, 2 swiss army knives, 1 is the regular that you can buy anywhere and the other is about $15 and is a souvenier item. then i have a smaller multi-tool with scissors, blades, can openers, ect..., and then i have thi little crappy peice of shite, i mean the blade is chipped and dull and the spring is busted all together so it freely opens or closes and its just a puny little thing, but i still wouldnt lend it out because it keeps my hands busy. and then i have a ruko hunting knife thats about $25. but i wouldnt lend any of my knives out and since i ALWAYS have at least one on me ill never need to borrow one. i sometimes take off my knives if im doing something like a sport or a game where they mght fall out or get wet, and during these times i would be asked if i have a knife on me and when i say "no, took them out before i came" there shocked. and if i find myself working or needing a knife and i forgot it, persay in my other pair of jeans, i myself get wide eyed and feel dizzy. anyways talk to you later. adios

This is why many advocate having more that one knife in order to 'lend' one to somebody that asks to borrow yours. Obviously in your question you stated we only have ONE, so it would never be in anybody else's hands but my own! :)

Whadya think moras are for?

On second thought I might, and this is if I was feeling extremely generous mind you, possibly maybe chance, lend out my mini keychain SAK.

Only then would I permit them to use the nail file and the toothpick.

As for the survival blade. She stays right where she is. I figure if injured and about to die then they'd get the knife and a meal when I passed. :)

I'm usually carrying a few of varying values (from give a $h*t to dont give a $h*t)...in the event...and it always happens if your that type of guy, everyone knows it and will eventually ask. I will lend out my bang up knife with full knowledge if it walks off or dies...I wont exactly be at a loss. Like I said I'm usually carrying a few so I'll still have a nicer one to hunt them down with as a last resort

Wise word of advice
Dont ever lend anything that can't afford to loose.... I have a sickening "tool" story...but not here

Only if I am injured to the point that they can take it without my knowledge. Other than that, I gotta be able to trust them with my life and there's only one individual alive that I trust with my life besides myself and she already has a good knife. :D

I usually carry a couple of extra blades that are good enough for my backup, but were picked up cheap enough that I won't mind giving them away under certain situations.
