Would you pay $1 for this?

I found this little guy at the flea market for $1. I saw the name on the blade and figured A.G. Russell my not be high end but they don't make utter crap either. It's not my style of knife and it was covered in crud, but for one dollar I would roll the dice. After complete tear down and clean up it looks much better. My google-fu tells me it is this A.G. Russell second with the cut out on the ricasso, it has a Ti frame and a 154cm blade and retailed for $79 back in the day. While the action is smooth it's far too tight for a flipper though it can be flipped if you wing it hard enough. It can be opened one handed by using the guard as the thumb stud, but it feels clumsy. The sure fire easy way is to use both hands and open it like a slip joint. I had to polish the engagement surfaces of the blade and the frame as the lock was very sticky, it still binds a little if you put and pressure on the blade when disengaging the lock. For a buck I will toss it in my box-o-knives and use it for trading stock.

Get some graphite on that and possibly loosen up the pivot screw. It looks like an absolute steal for a buck.79 bucks 10 years ago might be around 90, maybe a hundred today, nice find. Congrats.

I'd pay a few dollars for that. I think its a pretty cool looking knife. Especially with the nice materials used. Very cool find.

Ive got a couple of Darrell Ralph knives with the same basic design. I find if you push forward on one guard and pull back on the other, the blade will deploy smoothly and quietly.
