Would You Rather?

Before I finally upped the money for a Sebenza I would have said four $100 dollar knives. After using one for a few months I would definitely take a single $400 Sebbie over four $100 knives.

I'd rather have 2 $200 knives. $200 (even $100 in some cases) will buy an excellent production knife. In terms of performance, a higher end factory knife should be able to hold it's own with a custom blade.

Thanks for the input guys. After reading your posts I think I've decided I need to keep the knives I have AND get another knife!!! :D

Damn, didn't realize $50 knives were an option :D.

The other part is that I don't think I could actually spend $400 on a knife. I mean, I could buy a gun with that!

Egggg-cellent choice. It really is true - you just can't have too many knives.:D

I am all out for 4 $100 knives but I am dying to get a ZT 300... that thing is sweet! With the current exchange (1€ is about $1,5) I think I will pull the trigger any day.

I'd rather have one $400 knife, as long as it's the right one.

Finding the right one can be rather difficult.

I'd rather have the knife I want regardless of whether it's a $400 knife or a $100 knife. I have knives in both price ranges and I carry whichever one fits the needs of the day.

Honestly, nothing I have in any price range outcuts my $100-$125 flat ground Spydercos and I carry a Caly 3 or Para-Millie as much as anything else. The attraction of an SnG or a Sebenza to me is in it's "beat me up, I can take it" attitude (SnG) or it's F&F & design elements (Sebbie).

4 $100 knives any day. At that price, I can get very good quality, and 4 is better than 1.

Of course, in reality, I'd spend the $400 on a hatchet and a large axe, a saw, a couple of Moras, a handmade Tommipuukko proper, a hukari, a SAK Ranger and then anything else I could squeeze in for a whole box of tools that will certainly do all tasks better than the one $ 400 knife.

I hear ya, I have two 0300's, a 0302 and a 0200 :D

4 knives in different size, with a different shape and grind. In a heartbeat!
IMO a 400$ knife has zero advantage over the modern production knives around 100$.
We buy expensive knives because we like them, not because we need them. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm with Dale on this one. I buy what I think fits my needs and desires the best. The price isn't the deciding factor. On the other hand, I'd hate to only own 1 knife. Joe

I agree and a $400 knife isn't necessarily better than a $60 knife. It's also about preference. I'd take a Spyderco Endura over any William Henry.

I am dying for a coyote brown 0302. Just a stupid question you will surely be able to answer: Is the color of the scales the only difference between models 0301 and 0302? I guess so but... I felt like asking. Specs and retail price is the very same.

Just another question... does $230 feel like a fair price for a NIB 0302? Just asking. Anyone feel free to answer.

PD: Holly crap! The ebay store where I planned to buy them just adopted a policy where they will only be shipping to France, Italy or Spain by Global Express Mail. That means I will be paying $48 for the shipping! Holly cow!!!! The do combine shipping and I could get 4 knives in the same package but what if I just plan to buy one? I am definitely screwed in this store... Anybody else knows where I can get a ZT 0301 or 0302 by a fair price and not be killed by the shipping?

I owned a Sebenza once, and I traded it away after I realized that it wasn't worth the asking price.

In my opinion, no knife is worth $400.00 dollars.

gimme a $400 custom for $300 off of ebay, buy a benchmade or a spyderco for a hundred bucks, and there you go, best of both worlds.

i wouldn't pay $230, especially since i saw one go for $125 unused plus shipping two days ago on ebay.

Are you sure it was a 030X and not a 0200? I believe the ZT 0200 is usually sold for that much but... the cheapest I have seen a ZT 030x is always well over $200.. mmm. I guess your ebay-fu is stronger than mine!

EDIT: My mistake! I just found one for 189,95 Buy Now price... problem is that guy doesn't ship to Spain... LOL. I am damned!

Thanks a lot for pointing it out anyway kilyourself038,
Mikel
