Would you send it back to Case?

Send it back. Don't let them get by on just their reputation, make them live up to it. (I'm sure they will.) ;)

IMO if there's anything moving around that shouldn't be because of a gap that isn't suppoed to be there you should send it back. My mini trapper has identical gaps on both springs but it doesn't bother me, as no functionality is lost. That large of a gap would bother me. Hope Case makes it right for ya, please keep us posted.

Send it back. Be prepared to wait. And be prepared to send it back again.

I recently sent a Slimline Trapper back to SMK, for a proud backspring when open, 3 weeks later, after I called to ask what was going on, they mailed me back the same knife. I then sent the knife to Case. 6 weeks later, Case sent me a replacement with the same problem. I sent it back again, and called them to explain. I was put in touch with Skip Lawrie, 814-368-4123, who went out of his way to make sure I was sent a knife I was satisfied with.

I was so happy with Skip's service, I went out and bought another Case knife. My suggestion is to call Skip, give him a heads up, send pictures, and arrange for him to process your repair.

Update:
The yeller pen came back from Case, I am impressed! It took close to 4 weeks, but it was shiny and hair popping sharp. The gap is narrower than it was, and I am now satisfied and a happy Case customer. Thanks for all the comments that lead me to sending it back to Case. Now it is time to start working on that patina again!

Hey, fellas. I guess I should have read this thread before I ordered the Case 32087 CV.

My question: has anyone gotten a good one?

I have a 22087 in SS that is very well constructed. Great snap on both blades, gapless backsprings, seamless lines all around, blades aren't perfectly centered but dang close to it, no blade play, and excellent F&F all around.

I won mine in a giveaway on this very forum and I couldn't have hand picked a better one. It is among the most well constructed Case knives I've ever owned or handled. I wouldn't expect them all to be this way but that is my experience with this particular knife.

I hope that your 32087 turns out to be as good as my 22087. If it is, you will be absolutely delighted with it.

Sounds like it was worth the wait. Congrats!

I have a very good one. It is one of my favorites for daily carry.
