Would You Tell Me What is So Special About Chris Reeves Knives?

CRK makes a good knife, there’s no doubt, but in recent years they’re not the pinnacle of quality that they use to be since many manufacturers can put out an equally great product.

Where CRK does excel is their knives have an excellent warranty, the spa service they offer is great, if you lose a screw or bend a clip it’s easy to get parts, you can even buy a new blade too or upgrade to Damascus.

CRK has sort of become the “Glock” of knives. They aren’t low-end, they aren’t high-end either (relatively speaking), but they make a consistent product that works well and can be serviced very easily.
I have not had the opportunity to access the CRK customer support folks, but that description is what I had read about when I bought our son a Green Beret before he went off to war. I had also bought him a Randall Made #16-1 Special Fighter for about the same money.

Turns out, the training cadre at Twenty-Nine Palms wouldn't let him take the Randall out on field training exercises in the desert because it was too shiny. We can argue about the who and why, but in 2004, it was not allowed by the folks in charge there. I tried to get Randall Made to modify the knife in some way to dull the finish, but they flatly refused. That is not customer service.

I've spoken with CRK's Customer Service folks, and they have ALL been great! 👍

Consistency...not one problem with any of mine (5) upon delivery or later with carry.

Please, tell this story again in another thread. The one where you bought a shiny knife from a company that makes shiny knives then you were sad because the knife was shiny.

My remarks above were about the customer service from the RRK operation and Randall Made. RK seems more responsive and supportive of their product line. That is pretty much it.

I'll tell it as often as the opportunity permits. It happened. Randall Made hasn't changed as far as I know.

Randall still trades on their WW-II reputation, which was well deserved in 1945. Randall knives are just as good today as they were in 1945. With the passage of time, the needs of our warfighters became somewhat different . . .and Randall Made did not come along.

Then why did you buy a Randall?

You either like CRK's or you don't. It's not a big deal. I have "several" other knives, and they were all bought to be users. But, no matter which new favorite knife I buy though, the CRK's always end up back in my pocket.

One could assume because they make a pretty nice knife...
But further research as to what sort of knife could be carried; might have prevented this particular situation.
100%. I was just pointing out that his buying the wrong knife is the problem. Not the knife maker that has been boringly consistent since our grandfathers were young.

Don’t mind DMG. He’s a sad little life-form who enjoys trying to start trouble. Then if a mod steps in , he acts all innocent with fake sincerity. Sooo pathetic. It’s actually quite amusing 🤣
