My favorite color is blue-gray. Imagine crossing cobalt blue with steel gray; "a stormy day at the sea", I call it.
Worst accident? I've had two. The first was a brain injury that put me into a coma for several days. I spent the next several months learning to walk and talk again. Four years later, almost to the day

while taking a land navigation field final, my leg and foot were completely crushed by a boulder that broke out from under me as I stepped off a small cliff. I watched my leg fold in half in the middle of the shin. I heard my leg and foot go CRUNCH! CRUNCH! I felt the tibia and fibula shatter into shards. Fortunately for me, the course was taught by retired Air Force PJ's (pararescuemen) who had a combined 100+ years of experience. The surgeon later remarked that the exceptional traction pulled on my leg is what saved my leg from being amputated. I've had 3 surgeries for that leg, 2 being complete reconstructions. The last one, from which I'm still recovering, involved cutting the lower leg in half, rotating the mis-aligned foot around, straightening the bent tibia, and plating it all back together. Well, the surgical team did that, not me :foot:
Cuts Like A Kris, I know how it is to have LOTS of free time on your hands

After the leg crushing, I was under doctor's orders to spend 20+ hours in bed each day
for eight months straight!
I surfed more web sites, read more books, watched more tv and movies than I'd done in my entire life to that point. It was intense. It wasn't wholly wasted time, though. Well, my leg basically healed, for one thing!
Nicest thing I've done? Hmmm, how about a knife-content thing: when I was 7, I was walking in the local park with my 5-year-old sister and her 6-year-old friend. A bully kid walked up to us and, without warning, pulled a knife on us! He flashed it around and waved it in our faces. Yeah, that kid was perhaps 8... wonder what sort of life he's ended up living!

Well, I stepped between the knife-wielding kid and my sister and her friend, telling them to run home, get mom, and have her call the police. That knife was uncomfortably close to my face for a second or two!

After they'd run off safely, I watched the other kid for a second, took a step back, then ran off, following the girls. Ah well, had the Bourne movies been made, perhaps I'd have known to disarm the kid and thwomp him with a toy truck or something for good measure
As for pics, I can send you a pic of a small sheep'sfoot blade knife that I made about 1.5 years ago. One of the things I started to do when first recovering from the crushed leg was read up on making knives
Oops, edit to say that I mis-read the directions. I'll post a pic of me using the knife, should I win it. I can still post the pic of the home-made knife, also, if others want it.
Lots of injuries on this thread... what do they say about birds, feathers, and flocking? Cuts Like A Kris, how did you break both of your legs?
