Damn close to twenty years ago I was privileged to meet a recently returned warrior from the Sand Box and to spend a few days after BLADE Show with him at one of the infamous designer get togethers at Wallace Fennell’s Hunting camp in South Carolina..... Spark had just formed
Blade Forums..... I, of course, had no F’ng clue as to what this whole internet thing was or what his creation would mean to me(or my Business)......

I had to be dragged kicking and screaming by Will Fennell who was, at the time, the new projects guy at Camillus...... I was VERY resistant..... I was wrong.... Will said “E. Ya gotta do this.” And I replied that he was nuts if he thought I was going to type(I am a really lousy typist) letters or notes out into the void, to people I did not know and had no clue as to wether I would like if I met them in person.....Welllllll..... I was really wrong....Actually, I was really, REALLY WRONG......

I have, thanks to SPARK’s foresight and generosity and Will’s urging found some of the finest friends and best company I have ever experienced...BTW he is not bad company his very own self...... What a grand community SPARK has created here and what fun I have had.....

His community has taught me a lot and has made me smile and think and occasionally caused me to laugh out loud..... This little burg on the electronic highway has allowed me to share my love of cutlery and you all have been good enough to share your thoughts and perspectives and good times and it has been good...

All thanks to our host.....

So Kevin, Many, Many thanks and as I type I am lifting a wee dram in your honor and I hope all who read this do the same....

All My Best my friend....

Ethan

P.S...... I have been given to understand That there will be some giveaways and stuff in celebration..... so stay tuned frequently over the coming days....

Another thought... Spark runs One Stop Knife Shop and he can always use some business....He really does the forum as damn close to a public service endeavor so Supporting Spark is supporting us....Food for thought....e

I've not been here nearly that long ... but glad that he had the foresight to get this up and running ... and thanks to all those that have kept it running ...

and shared the knowledge and friendships on here ...

and here's to another 20 years ...

As my closest friends know I am not a social media or forum type of guy. (Despite the fact that I'm a lifelong IT guy, go figure.) That being said, I have lurked hear nearly daily since I found bladeforums 4 years ago and posted upon occasion. The amount of information here is incredible and I have found it can be trusted as much if not more than any (I repeat any) other source. Well done Spark and the many mods and users who have contributed their time and expertise. This is one of the most inviting places on the internet. There are other places to go for knife info but none are even close to what is available here. Having honed my love of all things Becker I am also appreciative of the many contributions and musings of E. Thank you for the pleasure of using and collecting your blades and thank you also for being the kind of human being that is deserving of our thanks and appreciation.

Happy Birthday (sometime) Bladeforums.

Thank you mbay....

Your kind words are truly appreciated... I am reminded of our good friend Phil Gibbs’ description of himself as’Knife student’...Gibbs is more knowledgeable than most(Damn near all in fact) and whatever musings of mine you have found interesting are the scrivenings of another just student of the blade still searching for knowledge and wanting to share the journey...

Well said Ethan. 20 years is quite an accomplishment for such a niche area of the internet. And I guess we around here owe a great debt of gratitude to Spark for dragging you kicking and screaming into the digital age. I personally am very thankful for reading the many words of wisdom written by yourself and other knowledgeable members here.

Happy birthday Bladeforums!!

So much has changed in the last 20 years. Camillus, Queen, Schrade, and others, gone completely, or at best shadows of their former selves.

Glad we still have Becker, Buck, Case, Kabar, and the like that have been able to prosper and grow while others died. (Note the brands are listed alphabetical so as not to show bias.)

Ethan, you enrich all of our lives, by being here. I think of you as a friend, (even though we've never met). I'm glad you enjoy your time here too.

Happy birthday. Blade forums, best wishes for the next 20!
