I got my wife a Spyderco Worker way back when. She used and abused it for years, and it got lost in a barn fire. I went to buy another and they were out of production, the few I found at gun shows were much too expensive for the way she beats up a work knife, but this weekend I found what I am told is a "Byrd" Spyderco. The price was more than reasonable, the blade took a hair popping edge in a couple of minutes work, and the fit and finish is very good. I have no idea what this one is called, but the model is very close in blade profile to her old worker, and even though she prefers the worker's slightly more delicate point, I think it is less likely that I will have to reshape the tip of this knife. I just wanted to say what a really solid little knife it is for the price, and how much I appreciate being able to get functional cutlery without taking out a second mortgage.
