I "won" an eBay auction from WOW, well about a month ago! No biggie, it was for a SOG attache, a whole $10! (By the time you get through S&H closer to $20) I was on vacation at the time, but paid by eBay within three days. I actually apologized for being so "late". I got an e-mail from billpoint, saying the knife was shipped on 5/16. Still no knife. Email to WOW, "we're looking into it, problems with eBay software, get back to you". No "get back". Called WOW, no return call!I've already paid the credit card company for the knife! Now this isn't a "big money" deal, it's for a freaking $10 knife! In my email, I explained to WOW that I DID NOT want to leave negative feedback for them on eBay, or BladeForums or KnifeForums. I have never left negative feedback before and this sucks! My advice, leave WOW alone! If they can't deliver a product in almost a month, don't do business with them!

WOW's response to the negative feedback was that the eBay software crashed. That's really interesting since a)I already paid the credit card bill that the item was charged to and, b)I received a shipping notice from billpoint WITH A TRACKING NUMBER that doesn't exist!WOW stated in their response that they would refund the money. How about sending me an email that you're going to refund my money? This is just too weird!

Do a search for Mike Turber on the forums here and email him personally, he runs, or ran WOW Inc, I'm not sure if WOW is under a new name now, but anyhow, talk to him.

I ordred a Camillus CUDA through WOW. It took a while to get, and I was worried about it too, but Mike took care of everything... drop him an e-mail.

I don't know if you are Steve C or not but I will try to explain what happened.

Ebay uses a software program called Sellers Assitant Pro. We use it to track our auctions and email our customers when they win an auction. The database crashed last month and when it was restored it showed that every auction we had, regardless of the actual situation was reset to "Pending". We did not know who had won, paid, shipped, been emailed or anything. We sent an email out to ALL our auction customers and we had to go back through 580 auctions to figure out who won, who paid, who was shipped and more. It was a NIGHTMARE! Then on top of all that we had to get ready for the Blade Show and as I type this I am in California launching a new company and poor Angie is trying to figure this out while I am here!

I will be back Friday but if my memory serves and you are Steve, your knife went out already last week or Tuesday. Let me know when or if you get it. Please accept my personal apology.

I too had won several auctions from WOW during this same time period, but had already received my knives (and paid for them) when I got the same e-mail about the E-Bay software crash. It sounds like it pretty much happened the way he claimed it did, you just got caught in it prior to receiving your knife. I have never had any problems with WOW and am pretty satisfied with the way they have handled all of our transactions.

I know for a fact the e-Bay's billing system crashed on 5/2/2002. And finally they fessed up to it and made my situation right last week. E-Bay crashes happen from time to time, so you might have hit them during an unlucky time frame.

I am home now and researched your account. Thanks for the post here as it does help sometimes, even though it bites me in the ass. I was out since last Wednesday doing Blade Show stuff.

I did research and it looks like you are Steve C and you should have your knife by now. Let me know.

axolotis is correct and thanks for chiming in. I found out the hard way I can not put too much faith in Ebay's software. I am sorry but the real blame here lies with Ebay. We have had a nightmare of a month from that issue. Not knowing who paid and such and then when we figured most of it out I had to switch gears and get ready for the Blade Show.

If we only had a few auctions running during that time and not over 200 it would have been different.

We are feeling the effect through our feedback rating at Ebay as well. To bad people do not give us time to correct a problem even though we sent out a email warning that "Ebay, we have a problem" :D

Mike, do you ever feel that you have just too darn many irons in the fire? You sure are a busy man, what with WOW, Dragon Forge, Blade, Ebay and your design work. Sometimes a good scream helps. ;)

Yep!
That is why I was dumping so much stuff on Ebay. Trying to reduce teh Irons but that damn fire keeps buring my A$$ :D

Kind of figured things were that way. Even though I have read of a few problems that you have been having Mike, I would never think twice about ordering from you. I have always seen you do your best to make things right. That is all you can do after stuff like this happens.

Mike, I did get your message that you left for me at home. I've been away this past week on vacation. The mail has been stopped, and I'll pick it up Monday. Thanks for the personal reply. I never got the "crash notice". I got a quarterly account summary, and some other stuff. I did get a reply to my first e-mail, but nothing after that. I'll let you know when the knife arrives. Thanks for your response. When I get the knife, I'll let you know and reply to your eBay comment. Thanks again, In MY defense, I have to say, in my origional email, FAIR WARNING! KWM, I think there are just one too many irons in the fire. I waited a MONTH before I griped, and sent WOW an email explaining what the beef was 3 weeks after the trade went through.

:) The knife was delivered as promised! Mike is a good guy who wound up in an unfortunate "electronic circumstance". I guess this should have been a bad eBay thread. The thing I STILL don't get is how Billpoint processed the transaction, sent me an email that the thing was shipped and didn't convey that through the actual seller? Still just too weird! The guy who got the email saying the software crashed gets his purchase through, and my purchase doesn't go through, and I DON'T get the email. Please don't misconstrue these comments as being derogatory regarding Mike, he made it work! It's just bizzare. Had I received information from eBay confirming the software problem, this thread never would have started!

It goes even beyond that now, I was in Atlanta and LA for most of the past 2 weeks. Now I get back and thought we only had a problem with Ebay. It appears that since ALL of my email uses the same email server that BladeForums and 1SKS does I am now infected with the Klez (sp?) virus. So your emails did not go with no reply, they simply were never read to begin with. So I got a double wammy. As I am writing this Norton has found 234 infected files on my computer.

Suggestion to everyone!
Go to Norton Downloads and check your own computer. You may be VERY supprised.

I was relying on McCafee. (sp?) and it did not catch anything. Then I tried Norton and it found a bunch.

Anyway glad you got your product Steve and I am sorry for the mishap. I just wish I had more control over what and why it happened.

I'm sorry to hear that we now know how the problem was started! I can't endorse the norton product more! One thing alot of people don't do is update it regularly and make back-up (rescue disks) regularly. Like every WEEK! I do a full system scan about every two to three weeks and have snagged about 5 viruses so far. I guess a better do a scan when I get home!  !
