I got the info from a member of the German "Messerforum" that the purchaser
of the 184 above is someone from Russia. Expense should be no object for him.
Such people rains everyones eBay party. You have no chance if people like this
have their eyes on an object you like.

:thumbdn: :barf: :thumbdn: :(

This is just one more confirmation of my observation on a thread with garryale that Russians want the best and will pay for it. I hope the Buck execs are looking at this. Russia is one HUGE market.

Well......let's remember that there had to be people bidding right along with the Russian, so he definitely had some help.

I would have been out at $25! Not my cup-o-tea, that's for sure. P.T. Barnum had it right about a fool and his money soon parting ways... and never giving a sucker a break! That's just a crazy price, sorry if I've insulted anyone. Evil-bay does bring out the worst of man's gluttony.

I'm pretty sure that at least one of our members here has sold (and bought) the 184 for more than that...Bill Porter ["porterkids"] has a sub-forum over at Quaterbore; he'd know for sure...I'm sorry, but I don't recall the other member here, but he is definitely a "high roller" and has sold examples for more than $1K, IIRC...

IRRC that was a prototype, chickentrax.

In other parts of the world these things are much less common and people with the money will pay a premium for it if they want it.

WOW...that damascus one is OUTRAGEOUSLY nice!

I could see someone paying big bucks for that:D

Yes......it has a dark and evil, almost medieval look......sort of like an Elvin Troll-killer that any adventuring Hobbit would would seek out before going on the road.

I think I'd buy it meself!
