Took my 8 yr old son to the Crossroads of the West Gun Show here in Salt Lake City today to do some browsing and possibly pick up a couple knives for me and or my son. There was only one booth that had a very large selection of different types and brands of knives. I was looking at their Kershaw /ZT 's and watched a guy pay $90 for a Leek 1660CKT. I pretty much knew at that point, I wouldn't be buying anything from that booth. Out of curiosity I asked to see the ZT 561 and asked how much they wanted for it and I almost had to change my shorts... $350 is what they were asking. They wanted $400 for the Spyderco Brad Southard, Benchmade 300sn $180. I guess that's pretty much full MSRP. It's not what I expected to see, knowing what prices you can get these knives for on the Internet. Don't get me wrong, I know these people need to make mmoney and they probably have the overhead of a storefront and such but you would think with all the people at these shows they would really want to move some product. Sorry about the rant, just my opinion I guess.

Same thing happened here a few months ago at a local gun & knife show. All the name brand knives were well over list price.
I overheard a vendor complaining that no one was buying and I just laughed to myself.

I did get my son his first knife though a Victorinox classic SD white, so it wasn't a total bust :-)

Oh yeah I did receive my very impressive ZT 561 in the mail today from kershawguy also so today was a great day!

I went to that Gun show a couple months ago and think I know which vendor you're talking about, Delica's were like $120 and basic Strider SMF's were $675

Yea I'm sure it's the same one, I actually talked to the lady for a few and told her that her prices were too high. I gave her examples of prices I could get some of those knives for and she got pissed off and said she was going to call the manufacturers and complain about the websites selling at lower prices. I had to laugh at her.

At a shop near me a guy wants about $200 for NIB KA-Bars. Some people don't quite understand pricing. They should do a little research first. It can be frustrating at times, but then again I don't feel bad that they ask so much for knives when they run a KNIFE shop.

I've seen the same thing at some local gun & knife shows here in southeast Louisiana. The last one I went to I actually pulled up some prices on my phone to show a dealer. I was looking at a Leek, forget the specific model. He wanted something outrageous. I showed him what I could get it for and offered him $15 more than what the average online price was. He laughed at me. to which I had to laugh back at him. The knife I was looking at looked like it had made the trip to many many shows and handled by about a thousand people. Passed back at the end of the show to see him packing it up. I suppose I'll see him at the next show with it.

As they say, pigs get fat, but hogs get slaughtered. It sounds like a lot of sellers are trying to dip into the gun buying panic. I try to support the brick and mortar shops in my area, but I'd rather not walk out feeling violated. Some of these guys are hanging themselves.

Hey I'm from Utah also. I noticed this at the last gun show a month or two back. There was one major dealer and the prices were outrageous. It was nice to be able to handle the knives though.

I watched a guy drop $70 on a 9 foot HDMI cable at Best Buy last week. Didn't even bat an eye.

It's $7.50 on Amazon...

Caveat Emptor

i found a guy asking $90 for a dlc blur and $80 for a S60V Blem Blur. Almost bought the S60v...

That gun show guy is a douche anyways, the one that claims only knives from the US or Japan are the only ones made with quality and that if you buy anything else your "stupid" (his exact words). I'm a young looking 20 year old guy. Yeah I understand I look like I'm 16 but don't treat me like I'm some uneducated moron, If anything that guy needs to educate himself and his son about the knives they are selling. He told me he went to the kershaw warehouse sale and is the biggest seller of kershaw knives. My girlfriends then began talking about how she really loves and wants a kershaw tilt and the guy looked at me and asked me what the tilt was lol!
