Wow - Swamp Rat Tali-Whacker Is One Outstanding Knife

With 9-11 just past, the original Tali-Whacker comes to mind. My understanding is that the vast majority of those where not sold but given to those who could best use them, with less than 70 sold to the general public as overrun.

Sorry for the delay and the pictures are just down-n-dirty kitchen table shots, but here's how mine measured out...

OAL: 12.5"
Blade: 7.375"
Thickness w/ coating: almost .187"
Mine does NOT appear to have a armor piercing tip
Could be an LE that was coated later or a Ganzaaa over-run maybe?

I did note the grind was ever so slightly uneven on this TW (hence the decision to coat it and make it a CG maybe?), the saber grind on the right side of the blade is just a touch higher and a little further back from the tip than the left side grind (You can see it in the picture of the tip). It's interesting, because I took a quick pic of the T-Whacker with my latest acquisition (a James Helm "Mean Little Sucker"), and the MLS has the same thing going on. Make no mistake, I'm not bothered at all about the minor differences in grind heights as these two were created to be USED and not made to be art/collector pieces. I'm just going to assume this is a nod to some ancient tradition I'm not familiar with and sleep well tonight. It is interesting to find my two latest blades have such a similar blade profile. Maybe my tastes are changing a little as I gain more gray in my beard.;)

is that bottom one competition finish? jk

Nice grab and thanks for saving me from myself on that one!

Another one just popped up on the Exchange...... Oops, didn't help did I???

I believe James would call it "Neo-Tribal Forged", but the tapered and wrapped grip is one of the most COMPfortable finished handles I've ever had in my XXL paws.;)

Just got my taliwhacker and I have to tell you, its different from what I expected. In a fricking damn good way that is, this is way more knife than the pictures or price would indicate. Its a lot of knife, yet the profile makes it feel nimble, but its stout and big, no, its light and nimble, no, its all those things, its a classic and a keeper, an instant favorite. Wowed and pleased to say the least. Feels a lot like a B8 but differently balanced and stabbier.

Next to B8 LE sterile:

Built a custom sheath for the Tali-Whacker LE. 6oz veg tanned leather and wet molded to fit the knife perfectly. The sheath weighs 2.2 ounces which is ideal for the lightweight Tali-Whacker LE. Belt loop fits up to a 1 1/2" belt.
Was a little surprised the the satin SR101 was easily stained by the wet molding process with the veg tanned leather. The good news is that the Satin SR101 cleaned up perfectly with Blue Magic metal polish clean. Would think the metal polish will also clean up the steel after heavy use.
Second last picture shows patina on SR101 and last picture shows SR101 cleaned with Blue Magic.
What a great knife
