Is it me or the byrd crossbill is huge? With it clipped inside my pocket pretty much nothing else fits, and I can't even reach in my pocket. It's almost twice as wide as other knives of similar blade length, sure didn't look so on the catalogue.

I thought the hawkbill blade would be pretty cool to have and thought about buying a tasman salt later, but now after seeing what it does to knive size, guess I'll stick with the regular ones after all. :grumpy:

Another thing I notices, if the false edge on the spine were to be sharpened, this thing probably makes a mean slashing SOB. (not counting cutting your finger and pocket while folded :) )

Switch it to tip-up and it will carry in your pocket better. This is true with many of the Spyderco productions since doing so places the “hump” against the seam of the pocket. The Tasman is much smaller than the Crossbill, and can only be carried tip-up, so it probably won’t be as noticeable.

Also, if your wanted to sharpen the false edge, you could probably have someone make a Kydex sheath for it and carry it open.

Nah, I work in a academic environment and fixed blade type just won't work.

Good thing is after keeping it in my pocket for a couple of days, I'm getting used to the really wide shape. Love the hawkbill blade, does cut easier than my endura 4.

hehe, yeah the Crossbill would be a little large to be carried around campus.... i'd prefer a Tasman Salt size or smaller.... :)

You'll have to excuse the picture quality, desk lamp dosen't make good photography lights.

It's a tad smaller than endura 4, but feels the same. Just about the right size for my hand, any blade length under 3" would be too small. Not much to see in pocket, I carry tip down to minimize exposed portion.
