Holy crap! This is by far the hottest looking Red Class knife Benchmade has released to date. This is on the list for sure!

photo is courtesy of Mr.Winks. All the new knives are being shown on the Benchmade forums now too thanks to Mr.Winks.

If it wasn't so thick and chisel ground I'd be all over it. But as it is, it just misses.

From the looks of many Benchmade new releases it looks like this is going to be their year.

If the butterfly wasn't on the blade, I'd probably pass that off as United Cutlery fantasy junk. That's a pretty far-out design for Benchmade. But then, I guess Snody isn't really known for his traditional designs.

440C and real rayskin for $80 retail? That just might be my first fixed blade.

I hear it's molded rayskin, not the real stuff. I like it - chisel grinds seem to go well with wharncliffe type blades.
Too bad I'm fresh out of cash. Girls, knives, and the govt have drained my paychecks. :(

you see how sharp the butt is? just sitting there waiting to stab you in the low back or forearm or whatnot... otherwise, it looks like a pretty useful general purpose design... maybe...

Hell no. This piece has "Horizontal Carry" written all over it!

I don't know for sure, but it would be a departure for BM to misrepresent the materials in a knife. Then again, this piece represents a departure in other ways.

"A unique fixed blade design in the Japanese genre of form and function. The polished chisel ground blade flows into a cord wrapped handle with red colored ray skin. Also in the handle is a skull and bone design of a menuki for enhanced grip. And for carry, a molded sheath is done with a ray skin texture to compliment the knife."

Looks like the handle is ray skin, but the sheath is only textured like it.

And I'm not, myself, really keen on a skull and bone menuki thing. I think it really cheapens the image of the knife. It sort of does give it a "United Cutlery" feel, don't you think?

Yea, like a "tactical modern-day ninja warrior" knife, otherwise it would look great. Almost identical, I guess they wanted to keep it that way...
