For years a delica IV has been my EDC knife. I have many of them plain, serrated, and partial serrated etc. I was ready to pull the trigger on a hap40 spirit run but decided to go with a ZT0450CF because I liked the specs and reviews.

I am sure my reaction is nothing new to some of you that already know, but it caught me off guard. I received it today and my first impression was "WOW"! I was not ready for this type of quality and craftsmanship. It is almost too good to use, but I don't collect knives so it will see some carry time.

This is my first S35VN blade and first carbon fiber and titanium knife. So it will be a learning experience for me. I still like my delicas they make me say "NICE" when I get a new one but now I'm saying "WOW" every time I see the new ZT.

Nice indeed. The 0450CF is my favorite "smaller" knife. That sucker fires out like a rocket.

That ZT is a good looking knife. I've been debating between the CF and regular version, perhaps color anodized.

Your pic with the Delica really shows just how small and slim it is.

And a good call on the Delica IV. They are great. I got a blue-scaled one for my son this past Christmas, and will probably pick one up myself soon, been without one way too long. They are just such utterly useful knives.

The 450 is a perfect example of how a flipper should flip!!
You had to know this was coming........which ZT is next???? I'd go for a 452cf or 562cf!! Two more that will illicit a WOW each time you flip em!!!
Enjoy!!

For sure. I went the opposite 0562, 0452 then 0450. All great flippers.

I have to give a shout out to one of our forum dealers "eKNIVES". He had the ZT in stock and two days later it was in my hands. In the future I will check in with him and send my business there when possible. I tried another big named store and they said 2-4 days to ship, on day 5 I called and they said 3 week minimum. And still not certain the next shipment will have my ZT. Glad I found eKNIVES and their professionalism.

Agreed! The ZT0450CF is a fantastic knife. I've had mine on me since I got it.

As someone who often carries an 0452cf, it was very strange seeing the same overall profile in the same size range as a Delica (the 0452CF is notably larger than an Endura)

It is an incredibly handsome blade, and the green standoffs were the perfect accent. I'm more excited about the 0456 being a wharnie kinda guy when it comes to shorter blades.

I absolutely dig the simplicity of the 450CF, especially the CF scale with no liner and the way the handle is pared down as small as possible. I get a kwaiken vibe from it and the deployment, well, it's like lightning ("no officer it is not a switchblade"). My particular example did require a minor hone and strop to slice phone book paper but it's all good now. I'm working on an edge polish to add that bit of bling to go with the beautiful standoffs. The 2016 ZTs are killing it, the Rexford is next on my list.

I agree 100%. I went with an anodized titanium, but it's an great knife. Looks good, great lines, great design, not overly designed. Easy to carry, easy to deploy, efficient, effective, exactly what a modern folder should be.
Great knife ZT.

How well do the 450s cut/slice? I thought I read something about them not slicing as well as they look. Completely new to ZT, so I may have my models crossed.

Welcome to the ZT addiction...you picked a good one. My latest is the 0808, which I prefer from an ergonomics perspective over the 0450. If you're into bigger knives the 0452 and 0562 are must haves!

For sure, the 0452 is SEXY! That was going to be my purchase but I found the smaller 0450 so I went that way to EDC instead on the 4" 0452.

As far as slicing, so far I have found it very sharp, makes easy work of cardboard and paper. Still too new for me to comment on edge retention. It is a thin blade so it should slice nicely, but still too new for decision.

I was too until I saw the weight. For a knife that size it's just a bit too much for me. Otherwise that knife has me drooling.
