the cmp M4 I need to buy is a whole lot more expensive than I thought it'd be, I wanted a piece 20"x4"x.125" but they'll only sell me it in 36" lengths, and the total comes out to 181$ I was expecting more around 100...oh well, just need means it'll take longer...

I ordered some S30V last week and remembered asking myself why this customer insisted on stainless steel... I know why, i just wish I really understood why...

I could've bought 40 feet of W2 or 1084 from Aldo for the 3 feet of S30V I bought! Yeeks!

What in the world are you going to make that requires 20 inches x 4 inches by 1/8 inch ?? A real thin solid steel tomahawk ??? That is some expensive steel !!!

Have you figured the ht treat temps for M4 yet? Just curious as there seems to be a large tempering range to achieve the same hardness. Thanks.

I'm making a "santoku" or at least that's what it started out as, now it's more my take on it, and it has a 14" blade

i get cpm 154 2'x3' at a time in 3/32 and am thinking about getting 200 LB rolles to a thickness of .080 (got to do 200lb at a tiem to get it done

im ordering some other steel and 4"x24" at .075 thick is going to cost a $$$
my blade smith friend deker thinks im nutz (ish)

You are nuts, Butch. But if that's what it takes to keep coming up with those fantanstic knives and the mircata that goes with them... that's all right!
