WP What function was envisioned?

The WP is kind of an interesting. It seems like it was very task-specific in its design. I was wondering if anyone here knew what the idea was behind this particular blade. It doesn't seem to fit the bill of what I would think of in a WAR knife.
 
I don't know my blade shapes as well as some here, but it looks similar to a warncliff, which is a blade type that I have used on sailing knives for years. excellent for cutting line, or getting under something and cutting up (cloth, etc)...also where the point is, it will cut paper/cloth very well on a flat surface. If I was still sailing a bunch and could justify it, I'd grab one.
