I did some hiking and camping this past weekend in one of my favorite places here in Southern California, Wrightwood. Elevation around 7,000 feet. Had some new gear from Cascades Design (MSR, Platypus, Thermarest) I needed to check out. It was super windy and the night temps got down to 40F. Here are the pics, they speak better than I can!

Beautiful photos Reuben. Some of them are quite stunning.
What's the story on that Tramontina? I like the handle. You get it local or away?

I got it in 2008, but usually use the 12" bladed version. I got this in Peru and it has a 10" blade with a black plastic handle, perfecr for lightweight carry. It makes a good wood splitter and butcher knife, but lacks weight for chopping. Funny, it actually is a better carver than chopper.

Wow. Beautiful shots brother, thanks for sharing, much appreciated.

Great pictures man! Looks like a fantastic areas to hike in. Thats a nice featherstick you made with the Tramontina

Man i need you to share the starting point and the route you took... For over a year now i been spending more time working then outside.. My body and soul are diying for 2-3 days of outdoor time... Its not too far that i can go there in less then a moments notice if i get some time off...

Thanks. I think machetes make the best feathersticks because they are usually around 1/16" thick, yet not too many people look to them for the fine stuff.

Sasha,

I will go with you and show you the way. Let me know when you can do it. You owe it to yourself!

Reuben Im going to take you on that offer thats for sure and it would be sooner then later.. Thanks

Anytime. Gina would love to see you again. Maybe it was the amount of food you had last time.

Hey what can i say some good food at the end of the day makes it sooo much better.. I guess i should bring some of the spicy sausage again with some flat bread. If Gina is willing to carry some of the food i would also bring feta cheese and green olives and some more yummy food to keep us going.. talk about finding haven on top of a mountain at the end of the day... Going to email you as soon as i get a free weekend .

Sasha

I am adding that to my list of sheet to do before I leave Cali. Awesome pics bro! Thanks for the journey.
