Wrightwood, CA/Hiking Mormon Rocks

Is this an area where you can just set up camp and get a fire going or were you at a site? I've been wondering about places where you can do this in California ... I'm always afraid to camp or start a fire anywhere where I don't know that I won't get some big ticket or something.

Sorry for the late reply. I posted a thread a few weeks back on a place called Lytle Creek and that is more of a hike out and just do it kind of place. Remote and rugged with very few people passing through.

I have an absolutely gorgeous hike that I found tucked away in between LA and San Diego ... it would be great for a day hike and an overnight camp. But looking online, I see that camping is forbidden in that area. There would be some very hard to get to, secluded areas to camp, so I almost want to just be an outlaw ... the only hesitation is that there is a small parking area and if any ranger came by, I'm sure he/she would wonder why a car was still there. I'll keep Lytle Creek in mind.

Well let me know if you get the itch to go out someplace remote and practice some skills.
