Writer Rick Bragg gets a Case

Very well stated Cory. Although I live in an area that's not considered rural, my jobs, and hobbies have always been associated with what you describe as typically rural. I live 20 miles outside of Boston and now retired due to my health (I would have been retiring within the next few years anyways), but worked the last 20 years in the city of Boston. But as you say, I always had physical jobs working with my hands as an equipment mechanic. So I'm probably not the norm, but I worked with others of the same mindset and trust me, there are no feelings of exclusion. All I'm saying is that carrying a pocket knife is not exclusively a southern thing. That's all, simple as that. :D

I thought it was interesting that the photo chosen to lead the story was of a young boy with what looks like an SAK, not the type of knife the author is writing about. Then again Art Directors often know nothing about the subject of a article. I did an article on knives used in Afghanistan, put forward several of what I thought were good photos taken in country, BUT the Art Director selected one with the soldier having a Blank Adaptor on his M4, and a caption about combat in Afghanistan.
