Writing on the Blade - Thoughts?

It's ok in proportion, but I hate seeing modern, "traditional style" knives marked up like so many of them seem to be. Too much!

I don't mind a little bit like company logo and bladesteel. I'd prefer the markings to be small and on the ricasso though.

Sentences of info like limited edition xxx/xxx, I really dont like.

As long as it's small font and stays behind the cutting edge it's alright. Anything else is a real turn off.

I prefer a simple maker's mark or maker's mark and steel type. I much prefer engraving or stamping over print, though. I like Opinel's blade markings for this reason. Having lots of printing on a blade isn't a dealbreaker, unless it's something ridiculous. I'm just happy we haven't reached the point yet where makers are required to stamp ridiculous safety instructions into the blade (like the hideously ugly and useless "Read Owner's Manual" crap that's now stamped or engraved into every gun:barf:).
