I managed to save almost 2000 pounds of wrought iron anchor chain from being turned into compact cars and will be selling this whole lot off as I already have plenty of wrought.

To make this simple on me I am selling it either as a whole link for $30.00 or a half link for for $15.00 Plus $11.00 for shipping conus. Post what you want here.

This wrought iron chain is approximately 1 1/2" diameter, about 9 1/2" long and about 5" wide and approximately weighing 11 1/2 pounds for a full link with the cast iron stud. The stud is weighing about 1 1/4 pounds.

how is the grain texture on these puppys.

JT I will forge one down, polish and etch and post it in the original post, I have not personally used any of this batch as I have only had this a few days.

Hey Mark yep that stuff went fast Helped a lot with Bill Burke having some fun with Dave Lisch by not letting Dave have any.

Hey Mike,
Would you consider forging a piece down that I could use to make a guard and pommel for my meteorite dagger that is in the works. If you come on out to the shop and bring some, I'll trade you some really bizarre wood I just cut. I know you're a wood junky. Probably time for another fix. Just an idea. Let me know what you think.
Thanks, Mark

Ya Mark I can do that anything for my wood fix :P, just send me a PM with what you need I should be forging on some this weekend to etch and show the grain for the folks here.

Dang Sorry guys I put this in the etch and forgot it so it way over etched so I need to clean it up and re-etch it. It will be a few days till I can get back to this.

you could use a haammer on that right? dont need no power/hydralic hammer do ya--havent worked much with iron--marekz

Marekz yes this stuff hammers nice moves like mild steel IMHO and this size is as big as you would want to hammer by hand. I used a 6lb sledge hammer one handed to forge this down before I got my Little Giant.

In thin sections, that old wrought bends easier than mild steel and hammers almost like brass. I have some of the stuff from Darren Elllis and I tapered the end of a little 1/4 inch thick by 3/4 wide piece of it cold in the beveling dies of my press. It's pretty soft.:D
