This is a trade axe/tomahawk forged from wrought iron with a welded in 1060 cutting bit. The wrought iron was from a wagon rim. The head has been etched to show some of the wroughts grainy texture..Forged using the wrap&weld method with a piece of high carbon steel welded in, just like they use to make em'..The cutting edge is appx 3 3/4" wide and the head is 5 5/8" long. The haft is nice curly maple, stained with aqua fortis, finished with boiled linseed oil and a coating of wax..
