These were rare and are rarer and rarer anymore. I know that sounds like hype but this is a very interesting piece that I purchased brand new years ago and never used. It is one of many that I got when the bug hit me big and has sat in the safe ever since.
Here is some info I was able to pick-up on the internet that, along with any searches you care to do, will give you an idea about this interesting knife/tool/gadget/kit/gear.
WSI (CHRIS JANOWSKI) RANGER KNIFE
Very Rare - No Longer In Production. Almost none available.
Designed by Chris Janowski of the World Survival Institute
Chris (ex-special forces) is now deceased but the great reputation of this knife lives on.
Many have wanted this knife but there are no more available and those who have them will not let them go.
The divot in the handle is a good fire bow bearing.
The spine is 3/16" thick, made of 1095 carbon steel.
It is the only knife ever made with range finding capabilities.
The small easy carry and conceal design makes this unique knife very attractive.
This knife is oriented more towards longer term survival and "primitive" wilderness living
Includes sheath.
The holes are used for ranging by observing the target while the knife is held a specific distance from one's eye. The green cord is, IIRC, that length. This is a survical tool, collectors knife (despite its utilitarian appearance) and very interesting conversation piece from a very interesting (RIP) designer.
SPF - Congratulations mistwalker.
Use it in good health, as my grandmother used to say!
