WSK design - is it any good really?

Just out of curiosity:

The straight section in the middle of the blade is for using as a draw knife, correct?

So why the Hell is the saw right where you would put your hand to use it as a draw blade?
 
Your supposed to cover the teeth with a bit of leather or heavy cloth to protect that hand.

On of the reasons when I stopped and really considered this knife I was like..... meh.:yawn:
 
I think those WSKs / Trackers look kinda cool, but honestly, not very usefull. I dont think I would ever carry one of those in the woods.
