I'm no poet, but I know we have several here that are very talented. I remember a post earlier where it strayed from the original topic to several poems. My daughter (14) is very talented and continues to build a collection of her writings and poems. My wife is going to get it published (single copy) for Christmans for her. Here is a great poem she wrote the other day that is pretty fitting to the outdoors we discuss here in WSS. Just figured we could add to this (maybe temporarily make a sticky) so I could collect some more ideas for her.
Nature's Beauty
Every deformed, black cloud in the sky
Is beautiful.
Thunder and lightening brighten the Earth,
Illumination so wonderful.
Water flowing through a brook
Is my only instrument.
Wood and fire burn a sweet smell,
Making me content.
Wind blowing around my ears,
Just a whisper.
Leaves rustle in the forest trees,
With a sound that is crisper.
The scent of grass reaches me
With every step I take.
It blows in the wind,
Resembling the pattern of a snake.
Rain falls quenching the Earth's thirst.
Cooling the air.
A beauty worth beholding.
Can't help but stare.
The hills are abundent with color,
Filled with wild flowers.
It is truely amazing,
Watching Nature's powers.
Relaxing as I bathe
In the sun's warm rays.
This meadow, hidden from the world,
Never ceases to amaze.
The sun sinks below the horizon,
The moon makes itself known.
The stars shine for me,
And me alone.
The crickets chirp
A quiet lullaby.
As if to say
"Good night and good bye."
Asleep in the grass,
Under the stars' glow,
I dream a dream
Of my beautiful meadow.
