Hey, I know Ron53 and doug083 are planning on attending the Austin, TX gunshow this weekend...but if any other members are in the area, you're more then welcome. I'll have to be there pretty early, around 9 or 10 in the morning. If somebody know's a good link up point, let me know. It will be me and my son...

I am in MA, but if the usual knife guy is there, his name is Bob, he has about 10 tables..( I used to live in Austin)tell him I said hello, and by the way, he is great to deal with, and he always has nice knives under the table for the "real" customers. in other words..ask what he has under the table or in trade!!!! Great guy. Gene

Sat or Sun? I won't be able to get there til after 1100 anyway...stoopid job.

Well, we can shoot for 1130 or 1200 on Saturday if that's good for you.

Hey Gene, If I run across Bob, I'll tell him you said hello!

Who know's a good place to link up? I hate wearing name tags that say "My name is Dave" :)

Rock,

I plan on geting there at about 1000 Saturday. I'll be on the lookout for you and your son. If I don't catch up with you, I'll plan on being back by the refreshment counter in the rear of the place at about 1030.

See you all there!

Ron

Sounds good Ron...I'll have my tan LaRue tactcial hat on:thumbup:

I suppose I might be the only one in Camo cargos and a cowboy hat. Probably looking a little extra crispy after my day hike. I'll try and catch y'all at the refreshment thing around noon-ish.

I was planning on going to the show on Aug 2-3 here in Houston. Don't get all the good stuff before I get a crack at it.

Missed everybody...so much for our link up plan:D My son and I arrived late...about 1200 and stayed until 1400ish. Wow, I'd never been to the new location, it was pretty big and very crowded! I did see a table with a ton of knife making supplies; a whole load of handle material. I picked up some .40 and .45ACP rounds as I was mostly window shopping...there were a few custom knife makers there with some nice knives. We'll have to make a better plan next time:thumbup:

Yea...I was there for about 2 hrs or so. Saw a lot of cool knives and wish I had the money and space to build my own. Replaced a few blades and basicaly wasted half the afternoon. Certainly beat accomplishing something. :)

I hear you! I really want to start at least rehandling some of my knives...something I really would enjoy; just need the time and space for it.

Next time, we'll have to do a better link up...heck, lunch on me:thumbup:

I didn't think about it until the drive in...why didn't we exchange cell numbers or something? duh...

Yeah, I'm a commo-guy...so that's a "double duh":D A most definate next time...my son was looking for a guy in camo shorts and a cowboy hat...the place was too crowded, plus they had a lot of "shiney" stuff on tables that distracted our looking:D

Yea...I was there..about the same time you were. I picked up some decent blades though. CRKT M16-04Z. Has the AutoLAWKS system that I really like. Replaced my stolen Schrade ClipHanger (the guy even had the Made in USA ones, he was the guy with the work gloves and other bs to the left of the entrance towards the rear. Had alot of good stuff. ) Picked up a handmade Arkansas stone from him too. From the vendor that I bought the CRKT(the lady on the back wall), I bought a RoughRider (CASE ripoff) and a Smith sharpener. All for a grand total of $50. I then picked up some various picks , files, and such from the guy in the lobby to supplement FAK needs, etc.

Not a bad haul for spending about $60. I just wish I had enough cash to snag one of the Khuks I saw...Maybe next month...

Hey guys! I was there from 1000 until 1300, and was not able to catch up with you guys! Oh, well! Next time we'll come up with a better link-up! I was able to nab a really nice old S&W K-22 while I was there.

So...we can survive in the woods for weeks without food and can build a shelter from a dinner napkin and a piece of floss, but not one of us thought to exchange cell phone numbers?:o:D
