This design is probably the most discussed design on the different forums. The Tracker or WSK. I'm calling mine the Wilderness Survival Tool, WST. It's one I've tried to stay away from but I just had to put my spin on it. No bells or whistles. Just a straight forward cutting tool. I took the basic profile of the Beck version, only mine is 2" wide instead of 2 1/2" like Beck's. This is the blade pre heat treat. Full convex grind made with O1 steel. 12 1/4" overall, 6" blade, 6" handle, 1/4" ricasso.

Sorry but I am lost. It doesn't look like the tracker knife in the Hunted.

Why is this design so good? I don't know a thing. Please inform me on the design.:)

Thank you,
Scottman

looks good scott.... can't wait to see the finished product....:D what flavor of handle scales are you going to put on it.....:)

Looks good and functional. I like the cutout for batoning. Looks like a good, useful design.

reminds me more of the laci szabo hell's canyon survival knife than the wsk. i really like it.

I like the cutout for batoning.
Never even crossed my mind but that would be an ideal spot to baton.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the compliments.
Mike, how about osage for the handles? :D

That's gonna look sweet when it's finished Scott , I just know it !!!

I'm not sure about the tranition area though where the edge of the blade meets the handle section, why such a sharp angle ?

You mean, the plunge so close to where the handle will sit?
- Better for notching, and other such woodcrafting.

Great looking work Scott!

Looks good and strong. You might scale it down a little for those areas that can't haul a knife that big--Texas has a 5.5" limit, right? Or maybe just make a little brother for it around 4".

Not sure what you mean. There is a 1/4" ricasso before the grind starts at the plunge. The handle material won't go all the way to the cutting edge. There will be about a 1/2" space between the blade and the handle material.
