So I had a PM2 camo I sold. It was perfect. Purchased it a year ago, yeah I've missed it a lot.

Purchased another one to replacement it 2 months back, and the grind on It was so lopsided, it was laughable. Returned it.

Just purchased one this past Saturday, and just got it today. The blade is off center to the lock side (right).

What is going on these days? I love Spyderco but hate these issues.

I think a lot of centering can be adjusted away if you don't mind messing with the pivot to find the sweet spot.
 
Complaining about centering is like complaining they put it tip down. If you don't like where it is then move it.

Respectfully, I have to laugh. I don't mean any offense, but in my experience occasional slight blade centering problems are the norm for almost all knives--including $200-300+ ones.
 
Another melodramatic thread about unrealistic expectations... you can fix blade centring by loosening screws, flexing the scales until the blade is where you want, then re-tighten the screws.
 
I buy more Spydercos than any other brand of knife. The last five I have bought (all brand new from dealers) were pretty much perfect. So I think you must be really unlucky.
 
Please show some pictures to verify that it is truly off center. I have never had QC problems with any Spydercos I have owned. They all opened and cut like champs.

Spyderco have spoiled me with their QC. All knives I have purchased from them have been dead center, and I have both budget and premium quality knives. All are well centralized, so if I get a blade that is off center and I've paid a lot of money for it I expect nothing less.

Kershaw on the other hand....
 
I've had/have knives that were over $100 that did not have a dead on centered blade, including a few Spyderco's.
It doesn't bother me one bit though. If it touched a scale would be the only time it would bother me, and I've never had one do that.
 
Not really fair, based on a sample of one, to complain in an open forum about a manufacturer's QC when you haven't even given them an opportunity to address the issue.

Bad form, sir.
 
I've had enough ones that were not completely centered.
So has my brother.
They didn't scrape the liners though, and didn't impede function, so we didn't really give a crap.:)

But yes, centered is nice.
 
I had one that wasn't centered, but darn near close. It had no side to side or front to back play so I just didn't worry about it.
 
Got my first para m2, really love it, blade is centered but not as sharp as expected and action is a little stiff!!! Im sure a little stropping and some time things will be fine. All in all very happy and looking to get military next.
 
OK, all of these posts are focusing on the knife being either centered or not. I have a Sage 2 ti that is bloody off center and who gives a rats I say... Does not bother me at all but the thing that worries me is the grind.

I would be very worried if a production knife had uneven grinds and I spent more than $100 on it. Sad enough I see this on Benchmade but have yet to see this on Spyderco yet. Lets see though.
 
I bought a Manix II that was well off center. I tried the tricks with loosening screws, bending G-10 and so on. (This was the first knife I purchased that was off-centered.) Nothing worked and Spyderco said send it in. So, I returned it and may try another.

I immediately noticed the blade was well off-center (just missing the liner), how could Spyderco miss this before sending it out? Proudly made in Colorado, huh? (Why are the Taiwan Spydercos seemingly better made? --- Sage 1, Gayle Bradley) I'll pay more for USA made but not for a lesser product.

QC is one reason I buy Spyderco.

P.S. Make the blade a bit more narrow (and move the clip down a bit) and you'd have a perfect knife.
 
Perhaps you should purchase those made in Taiwan... Jeje. Had to say it. Yes, the knife should be centered when received but it is a production knife and I would expect there to be a few in a run of thousands to be off center. I am more worried about the fact that a grind is completely off.... Either way, my sage is perfect despite being off center as well.
