Wxx Spyderco. I have recently noticed that the grind on some Spyderco`s has dramatically changed from perfection too.... eehh not so "perfection"...
My Delica zdp was crap and the Dragonfly zdp was a joke...also my vg10 Stretch was a really bad one...Yes they were sharp out of the box but the grind was poor... 15 degrees on one side and about 21 on the other...Colorado made still fine and the Taiwan too but Seki city...I wanna cry... Don´t get me wrong I love Spyderco (used them for over 20 years) but I'm concerned...

I get about 1 out of 10 knives with an even edge bevel, brand doesn't matter. It would be interesting to see if CRK even pays that much attention to the symmetry of their edge bevel.

They are all edged free hand, so there is no surprise that there is a variation. Maybe all yours got done by a rookie or someone hot to leave on a Friday afternoon.

For starters your choice of thread title leaves a lot to be desired as well as the opening sentence of your tirade. I highly suggest you edit them both. If you need to rant to it in W&C.

i would have worded it differently myself but i do agree that ive had some ugly factory grinds as of late.

I don't know why everyone winge's about ZDP, I have no probs re-profiling and sharpening my 0350ZDPCB on my wicked edge?

Also, unless you are buying the knife strictly for collection, you will be using it, and inevitably sharpening it at some point right? So boo hoo re-profile it yourself, you get alot of value for money with spyderco, I cant see anywhere where they offer "perfection" in their sales pitch, I believe their current tag line is reliable high performance, do they deliver that? Hell yes they do and then some.

If you want perfection from factory go buy a knife 5 times the price.

My Caly3 in ZDP had nice even edge bevels. I sharpened it any way. I like to sharpen a new knife. Lets me get a feel for it.

I sharpen any new knife that I plan on using. Most of the Spyderco's that I've purchased have had a good edge. Why start off with a remark that is only going to start trouble and accomplish nothing.

I buy more Spydercos than any other knife brand and based on the ones that have passed through my hands, I would say you've had some very poor luck.

While I have had the occasional knife with uneven grinds (more pronounced on one side than the other) they are definitely in the minority.

I buy a lot of Spyderco's as well and while I'm no grind expert all mine look good as well. They also all have come shaving sharp.

I've gotten a few of various brands with uneven grinds. When it's done by hand it's easy to get uneven grinds. So, that wouldn't surprise me to see with Spyderco, or any other manufacturer.

Ken has a good suggestion. I would certainly follow.
In 2012 I bought seven Spydies, all from Golden. Grind on all of them looks fine.
