(SOLD) For Sale- Extremely Rare Italian Army Officer's 100% Wool Blanket, 7lbs 13oz, 96 X 68". Has been professionally dry-cleaned. I believe the red stains are just military training dye. My dry cleaner said the stains did not respond to their cleaning solutions that would have removed or lightened biological blood stains.
This is one of two of these that I own and comes from my personal wool blanket collection. This is an extremely rare Italian Officers Blanket. It is NOT the regular Italian Army Wool Blanket that most people know of. It is the Officer's model which is the size of a Hudson Bay blanket and it weighs nearly 8lbs, whereas the regular Italian Army Blanket weighs 5 to 5 1/2 lbs and is smaller dimensionally. This blanket has definitely seen some field use, as evidenced by the staining in some areas and some wear spots. I repaired some areas using waxed cotton thread which you can see in the photos. I think I matched the color fairly well so the repairs don't look out of place. As such, there are no holes in the blanket. Despite the repairs and service it has seen, it still has a lifetime of use in it and I enjoyed using it immensely.
In a nutshell, if you like the regular Italian Army Wool Blankets, this is the ultimate version. Thicker, warmer, and big enough to do a burrito wrap in. Despite being so large and heavy, it packs down amazingly small. One of my absolute favorite wool blankets of all time. I am forced to sell it because I am dealing with a severe back issue and have to go through a slow and tedious process with the VA which is limiting my income. $125.00 OBO plus $24 shipping. Asking price is based on the extreme rarity of this blanket and the fact that it is a nearly 8lb, pure wool Hudson Bay-sized blanket.
