- I originally got this knife just to try out a front flipper for the first time. I wanted to see if I would like the mechanism before investing in a more expensive one.
- I ended up quite liking it, as I’ve owned a couple since and am currently waiting on a full custom build for a front flipper.
- The knife is a production version of a design by A2 (Andre Thorburn & Andre Van Heerden)
- Specs:
- 2.9” blade of VG-10
- Black G10 scales, backspacer & pocket clip
- Titanium liners, that have been anodized blue
- Front flipper opening
- Weighs: 66g/2.32Oz
- Blade thickness: 0.11”/2.8mm
- 6.73” OAL
- Condition:
- I never carried the knife and I didn’t use it very much, as I mainly just got it to check out the flipper.
- However, the knife did have one or two problems when it first arrived to me, so I did make some adjustments.
- unfortunately, the edge bevels on the knife were completely uneven when I received it new…
- So I did sharpen it, to attempt to correct this.
- Overall, it worked out really well! The knife is much sharper than when I originally received it and the bevels are much more even.
- However, it could still probably use one more sharpening to finish off evening it out.
- There was also one modification made to the knife.
- When I first received it the liners were completely squared, even where you would put your finger to disengage the lock. This resulted in a difficult to disengage lock, that often resulted in you painfully pinching your finger between the liner and the G10.
- So I just took some needlepoint files and slightly chamfered the edges, just where you put your finger to disengage the lock. I also added a little bit of gimping.
- Might look quite as good, but it’s not hugely noticeable and it feels 10X better to use/flip.
- There is one problem that I need to mention as well. Which is that the screws are a bit stripped unfortunately…
- They were just a lot softer than I expected, so I stripped them a little bit, by accident on initial disassembley…
- the knife can still be taken apart & put back together ok, you just have to be careful to not strip them any further.
- It’s the body screws that are more of a concern, adjusting the pivot, should be just fine.
- unfortunately, the edge bevels on the knife were completely uneven when I received it new…

- All of the specs should be available here on ZT’s website: https://zt.kaiusaltd.com/knives/knife/zt0462
- Overall it’s a great knife! I just have others that are getting carried more, so doesn’t make sense to keep it around.
- It’s definitely on the larger side in terms of blade length. However, the combination of it’s slim profile and it’s light weight (due to the red CF & weight relieving pockets in the Ti), means it’s still a pretty easy carry.
- It’s got a very unique style, coming from Dmitry Sinkevich, with a long swooping Persian blade and handle! The presentation side also features a red carbon fibre scale and no blade markings (sterile). Finally, the knife has custom Sinkevich styled pivot hardware (luckily still designed for a normal T8 screwdriver though).
- I did use and carry this one. So as a result:
- There are a few small scuffs on the Ti side of the frame (relatively minor)
- Please see the photo gallery for close-ups (near the end)
- There are also a few light scratches on the blade, you can only see them in certain lighting, but they are there. They could probably be removed as they aren’t very deep (buffed out or something), but if you’re going to want it as a user, probably not worth the effort.
- Please see the photo gallery for close-ups (near the end)
- The knife has been sharpened
- I did this, as soon as I got it (before any actual use) just because, I usually find factory edges leave a bit to be desired… (They’re usually just not sharp enough for my preference)
- All of the sharpening was done on my KME system (I can’t remember exactly, but I believe the edge angle was somewhere around 20 degrees (per side))
- Before posting the listing, I tuned up the edge on the knife and haven’t used it since. So it’s razor sharp! Much sharper than the original factory edge!
- I didn’t do a mirror polished edge, as I figured it was more of a user oriented knife. However, it was sharpened up to 1,500 grit on the diamond stones and then stropped using 4 micron CBN emulsion. So with a bit more strop work you could definitely get it there if you wanted.
- There are a few small scuffs on the Ti side of the frame (relatively minor)
- Other than that the knife is tip top!
- There are no signs of wear on the CF side
- no stripping of the screws
- solid lock-up with no blade play or lock rock
- The action is fantastic! It fires out with authority and drops shut (without needing any shaking etc…)!
- the centring is perfect
- with the edge it’s got, despite the stock being on the thicker side, it slices with ease.
- The original box and paperwork/manual are included with the knife
Thanks very much for taking a look! Please let me know if you have any questions, or are interested in purchasing one of the knives!
